“There is something of the alchemist about Greer Twiss, as he pours, bends and fashions the basest of materials into some of our most precious artworks.’
After seven decades of continuous practice and on the cusp of his eighty-eighth year, we find Greer’s aptitude for pouring, bending and fashioning undiminished. “I like being busy”, he tells us.
We take great pleasure in sharing this collection of new and previously cast bronzes, along with collage works selected from his archive to accompany them. There are 12 bronzes, in a very limited edition of 3, making them very desirable collector's pieces.
An ongoing feature of Twiss’ practice has been the placing of his figures and objects within glass terrines to create stage-like settings, or mounted on platforms, so they almost soar into space. This in no way diminishes our desire to touch, handle, to experience almost the molding process with our own fingers. Bronze, after all, has a physicality, especially to the athletes, who sprint with elegance and grace, even as they stumble and fall. The transformation of metal into movement may be Greer’s personal blend of alchemy.
More images and a complete catalogue of works will be available from Saturday 30 November. Please contact us for more info in the meantime.
