profile for the ages
paul jackson

5 - 28 September 2019

Paul Jackson spent his childhood among artists; some of the country's best known painters and writers were family friends and frequent visitors to the Jackson's Mt Roskill home. It was, perhaps, inevitable then that Paul would follow in their footsteps.

Born in New Zealand, of Tongan and Scottish descent, Jackson now lives in Australia where he is well known as a figurative painter and has been a regular finalist in the nation's prestigious Archibald Prize for portraiture.

Profile for the Ages is an extension of Jackson's long-held fascination with ethnography. The exhibition includes highly detailed oil paintings and a suite of mono prints and woodblock prints.
