Jonathan Campbell graduated with a Diploma of fine Arts from Whitireia Polytechnic in Porirua, New Zealand. Since then, he has been working in bronze for close to thirty years. His foundry, in Lower Hutt, Created and Cast Bronze, was set up to create his own pieces.

Passionate about bronze, Campbell has worked as a master foundryman casting bronzes for some of NZ’s most respected artists including Elizabeth Thompson, Terry Stringer and Francis Upritchard.

His own exhibitions are rare opportunities to showcase his skills, both as a master craftsman and a sculptor in his own right.

Campbell’s endlessly inventive works always contain surprises. The sculptor makes unique and witty pieces that reveal the infinite delight he takes in his craft and his materials. His truly eye-fooling realism transforms ordinary objects into eternal bronze with the illusion of reality as absolute.

“Jonathan [Campbell] is a great unsung hero of our Workshop’s creative journey. He has never faltered in the delivery of the most spectacular, world-class workmanship that he has provided for many of our films and commissions. Bronze casting is a black art and thankfully for us, Jonathan Campbell has the alchemy of this craft coursing through his veins.”
